There's a certain kind of true-life logistical rescue drama - Ron Howard's "Apollo 13" is the granddaddy of them - that makes you realize how larded with theatrical devices most movies really are. "Last Breath" is an undersea suspense thriller based on a saturation-diving accident that took place off the coast of Scotland in 2012.

A routine deep sea diving mission in the North Sea goes terribly wrong when a young diver is stranded some 300 feet below the surface in the new film “Last Breath.”

In September 2012, the young Mr. Lemons was trying to repair some pipeline along the floor of the North Sea when disaster struck on the surface 300 feet above, ultimately severing the “umbilical cord” that connected the diver to his ship and stranded him in the pitch-black deep with only seven minutes’ worth of oxygen in his reserve tank.

Woody Harrelson ( Zombieland) portrays Allcock while Simu Liu ( Shang-Chi and the Legend of the Ten Rings) and Finn Cole ( Peaky Blinders) tackle Yuasa and Lemons, respectively. Cliff Curtis ( Avatar: The Way of Water) and Mark Bonnar ( Napoleon) co-star.
