Actor Gene Hackman, his wife Betsy Arakawa, and their dog were found dead in their Santa Fe home, in a scene that one detective had deemed “suspicious enough in nature to require a thorough search and investigation.

The Santa Fe County Sheriff's Office spoke with reporters on Friday about the investigation into Gene Hackman and his wife's deaths. The Oscar-winning actor, Betsy Arakawa and one of their dogs were found dead in their New Mexico home on Wednesday.

The media circus hearkens back to the Rust shooting, when national outlets descended to report on every detail as they emerged.
