When Forza Horizon 5 arrives on PlayStation, it will require a Microsoft account to play, it’s been revealed. The game, which will be crossplay on all platforms and contain all of the content from both the Xbox and PC versions of the game, will require an extra account linking process from PlayStation players.

Forza Horizon 5 players will require a Microsoft account to play the racer on PS5. On launch of the game, you'll be asked to sign in with your Microsoft account – "sometimes referred to as the Xbox Live services that are a part of your Microsoft account" – and link it to your PlayStation Network account.

It continues: “On launch of the game, you will be asked to sign-in with your Microsoft account – sometimes referred to as the Xbox Live services that are a part of your Microsoft account – and link it to the PSN account you are currently logged into the PS5 console.”

Forza Horizon 5 will be a digital-only release on PS5 on April 29. The lack of a physical release may disappoint fans who prefer owning physical copies.

Forza Horizon 5 on PS5 requires a Microsoft account in addition to a PSN account. Progress from Xbox or PC versions won't transfer to the PS5 version. No cross-progression, but PS5 players can access UGC from other platforms.
