Survivors of Sweden's worst mass shooting on Wednesday recalled trying to save the lives of their comrades at a school for adults in Örebro, a day after a gunman killed 11 people on what the prime minister called a "dark day" in the country's history.

The king and queen visited the scene of the tragic event that occurred on Tuesday and Swedish flags were flown at half-mast to honor the victims.

Sweden on Wednesday reeled from the deadliest mass shooting in its history after 10 people, plus the suspected gunman, were killed in a shooting at an adult education center in the central city of Örebro.

Police in Sweden said "about 10" people were killed in a shooting at an adult education school . The shooting occurred at Campus Risbergska in Örebro, Sweden, the city said in a statement. Police say the shooter is believed to have been killed.
