Thousands of supporters have greeted Nepal’s former king in capital Kathmandu and demanded his abolished monarchy be reinstated and Hinduism brought back as a state religion.

Nearly 10,000 crowded the streets outside Kathmandu International Airport, where King Gyanendra Shah landed in a chartered jet after 2 months away in Pokhara.

Nepal 's former king Gyanendra Shah was welcomed back to Kathmandu on March 9 by thousands of supporters who have been staging pro-monarchy demonstrations in the Himalayan republic.
