A hit-and-run driver who struck and killed a Connecticut state trooper last year has pleaded guilty to a manslaughter charge and agreed to serve an 18-year prison sentence.

A man who admitted to using fentanyl and cocaine before he struck and killed a Connecticut State Police trooper during a hit-and-run crash last May has taken a plea deal likely to include an 18-year prison sentence despite the slain trooper’s widow asking for a much lengthier sentence.

Alex Oyola-Sanchez pleaded guilty in the hit-and-run crash that killed Connecticut State Police Trooper First Class Aaron Pelletier in May on Interstate 84.
